Description
We are looking for a ”Category (Commodity) Buyer” for our customer’s plant with the following skills and the qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 7 years’ experience dealing with a large APV portfolio in a Purchasing / Buying role. (Min 5 years automotive experience is preferred)
- Engineering degree and /or MCIPS qualified
- Strong negotiator with proven record, good use of purchasing tool
- Product/Manufacturing engineering experience, automotive background is an advantage
- ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 Knowledge is preferred
- Strong manufacturing process knowledge is preferred
- Good interpersonal skills, strong, confident personality and relationship builder
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly to a fast paced automotive environment
- Available for regular travel, valid driving license & visa’s
- Advanced analytical, problem solving, time management, communication skills
- English level – advanced required. German and or French an advantage
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Provides Product Business Unit (PBU) and Plant needs to Purchasing & SCM Managers, to adjust Category Strategies in order to align with PBU & Plant business and financial metrics
- Drives to attain lowest up-front cost/ideal value stream performance for all new and existing components for EMEA region: early sourcing, development of strategic suppliers, cost modeling, cost/profit planning, benchmarking, MvB, analytic tools and contract management
- Understands/negotiates cost impact related to design changes demonstrating a cost walk
- Benchmarks categories and manages an annual buyer business plan to achieve cost reduction, localization, best cost countries objectives
- Links and leverages current and new businesses, within all PBU/division counterparts and the category team
- Develops and executes a strategy to ensure an on-going operational excellence from the supply base, that delivers purchased parts in the requested volume, quality, timing, and at the best cost, all along the program life, including service part
- Executes sourcing process excellence standards, promoting lean and first time quality culture
- Visits suppliers and our customer’s manufacturing plants in EMEA on a regular base
- Attends adequate trainings to develop and maintain market and technique expertise
- Performs activities with high integrity, in compliance with Global, Divisional and Site procedures, systems requirements and our customer’s fundamental principles
