Overarching responsibilities:

  • Key business partner in the local management team, collaborates with related departments
  • Helps develop and ensures achievement of financial objectives of the company strategy
  • Execution of planning, budget and control processes in line with global functions from  HQ and the local team
  • Drives pro-active initiative for business improvements and related analysis of improvement options
  • Ensures efficient and effective reporting and preparation of financial reports locally and for HQ reporting purposes in line with the defined due dates, timely responses
  • Provides information to the General Manager and Global Vice Presidents at short notice in the event of significant deviations, opportunities or risks influencing the local entity’s financial situation
  • Organization (delegation and control) of all duties and responsibilities in compliance with local laws
  • Establishes and implements local policies as needed for functional areas noted below, as aligned to global policy and adapted to local conditions
  • Initiates and establishes efficiency and effectivity improvement measures for administration processes

Finance, Accounting & Treasury:

  • Controls financial accounting operations including annual financial statements, annual audits, tax returns, monthly reporting and general administration
  • Ensures adherence to local accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP/etc.) at local level (HB I) and adjustments to global (HB II)
  • Supervise transactional bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, inventory valuation, general ledger
  • Manages and optimizes Cash Flow (incl. working capital control)
  • Manages relationships with local banks

Controlling & cost accounting:

  • Leverages management accounting information to ensure financial stability and sustained profit growth of the group – strong working knowledge of cost accounting and analytical skills are necessary
  • Responsible for local cost management process
  • Defines and implements plans and actions to achieve the operational/profitability targets
  • Prepares ROI calculations to support proposed investments according to Group Policy
  • Supports local Risk Management

Legal, Tax & Insurance:

  • Manages local legal entity affairs and regulatory reporting of the company in cooperation and constant exchange of information with the HQ
  • Manages local tax affairs and tax filings and ensures compliance with global transfer pricing and other relevant policies
  • Ensures compliance with local tax authority requirements (e.g. annual transfer price study)
  • Manages local business insurance coverage in coordination with regional and global resources


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Economics with an Accounting qualification (local GAAP experience is essential – IFRS, German GAAP, Certified Public Accountant or experience in an audit firm would be advantageous)
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Finance/Accounting and Controlling, 3-5 years at upper-middle to senior management level with responsibility for a company, business unit or Finance/ Controlling Department and staff 
  • Proven ability as business partner, with excellent professional discipline and well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Understanding of critical/strategic leadership imperatives, while also being able to provide hands on and operational support in the business
  • Experience in a medium / large company with multiple business units
  • Advanced knowledge of and effective compliance with corporate budget planning, monthly/yearly closing procedures and related reporting
  • Strong capability in cost accounting and analysis
    • Balanced exposure to both front-end (sales and marketing) and back-end (sourcing, manufacturing, logistics) analysis
    • Experience in a business with combined/coupled production (e.g. food or dairy) would be helpful
    • Capability to run scenarios and develop business cases to support management decision making and investment decisions
  • Experience with and knowledge of modern ERP systems
  • Experience in managing Compliance and Legal Affairs, locally appointed law firms and respective authorities (e.g. tax authority, bank authorities)
  • Experience in leading and building teams, developing processes and managing change
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivated and growth-oriented, with a passion for learning, process improvement and business development
  • Fluent in English – proficiency in German would be a plus
  • No obstacle for traveling both Domestically & Abroad
